A Private Spa Day for Two in Birmingham
Most spa days for two aren’t truly private. You book a couples package, but you still end up sharing the pool, sauna and the spa. The entire space is reserved exclusively for the two of you. No other guests are on the premises for the duration of your session.
That changes the whole experience. You can talk properly, unwind without interruption, and stay in the whirlpool for an hour if you feel like it. There are no queues, no waiting, and nothing pulling you out of the moment.
This guide covers what a private spa day for two involves and how to plan it. If you are looking for a bigger group, our guide to a private spa day in Birmingham covers hen parties, birthdays and bridal parties instead.
“The Whole Spa, Just Yours”
A Spa Day for Two, With Nobody Else There
It’s important to be clear about what private actually means, because different venues use the word in very different ways.
At a hotel spas, a couples package usually means two people booked in together. The treatment room might be private but the pool, sauna and steam room are shared with every other guest using the facilities that day. From the moment you step inside, the spa is yours until you leave.
When Couples Book One
There is no single reason people book. These are the four that come up most.
Anniversaries
The most common one. A meal out is lovely, but you have probably done it before. A few quiet hours somewhere warm, with no phones and nobody else around, tends to be remembered longer than another restaurant.
Valentine’s Day
Restaurants on 14 February are busy, loud and rushed. A spa session is the opposite. It also books up early, so if you are thinking about it, think about it in January rather than the week before.
Proposals
This is the one where privacy genuinely matters. Proposing at a hotel spa means doing it in front of strangers. In a private spa there are no strangers. If you want to arrange something ahead of time, say so when you book and it can be set up before you arrive.
No reason at all
Plenty of couples book simply because they have not had a few hours to themselves in a while. Parents in particular. You do not need an occasion.

What is in the Romantic Pack
The Romantic Pack is built for two people and includes everything in the Essential Pack plus a few extras:
- A non-alcoholic mocktail each
- Face masks
- Candlelight
- Cupcakes
- Roses
- Fresh fruit platter
- Towels, bathrobes and slippers
- Your own music, dimmable lighting and the starlight ceiling
It is priced for the two of you as a single package, and longer bookings work out better value per hour.
If you would rather have the facilities without the extras, the Essential Pack covers the same spa without the romantic additions. You can check our packages for current pricing.
The Whole Spa, Just for the Two of You
Everything is included in the booking. There is nothing extra to pay for once you are inside.
The clear water pool uses a low-chlorine system, so there is no chemical smell and it is gentler on skin and hair. The hybrid cedar sauna gives dry heat, the aromatic steam room gives warm scented steam, and the hydrotherapy whirlpool is where most couples end up staying longest.
There is also a Himalayan salt wall, a rainfall shower and a reflexology experience.

How Long Should You Book?
You can book for two, four or six hours.
- Two hours suits most couples. Enough time to try everything once without feeling rushed.
- Four hours is better if you want to move between rooms slowly, sit and talk, and go round more than once. It also works out better value per hour.
- Six hours is more than most couples need unless you are making a full day of it.
If you are not sure, two hours is the one mostly people gladly choose. Our guide to a spa with a private pool goes into more detail on what to do with the time.
What order should you use the facilities?
There is no fixed route, but this order works well for most guests, take the shower before the use of any of the below;
- Start in the sauna to warm up.
- Cool down under the rainfall shower.
- Swim or float in the pool.
- Relax in the steam room.
- Finish in the jacuzzi.
Drink plenty of water between rooms, and take breaks whenever you need them. With a private booking, there is nothing to rush for.
